The realm spent this past day reading. Research was the most common way players filled their hours, run 140 times, far ahead of gathering and odd jobs. By evening seven cities had spent their Research Pages to finish a node, and one Researcher medal after another went out at Bronze, to AMKS, Karen, Jörg, GrumpyGecko, Buzzaroo and more.

Most of that study pointed at the wilds. SpudVille finished Scouting I, XM Nexus finished Scouting II, 🏗 Build finished Scouting III, and Buzz Hollow 🏘️ finished Scouting II and III on the same day. Crimson's City finished Crossbow tactics. Smurftopia took a different path and finished Tickets in the prize on its Fortune chain.

The hunters kept pace with the scholars. Five hunters had 16 first meetings across 14 species between them, and Jensen DisasterCthulhu Ԙ: ⚔️🏹 had six of those, including an Otter, a Fallow Deer and a Sable. Karen, Buzzaroo and ʂɧąŋɛ (Ɩąʂ ۷ɛɠąʂ) 🇺🇸 each earned the Naturalist medal at Mythic. Karen also paid 50,000 gold for a Master's Charter III, the largest single purchase of the day.

On the roads, the routes barely changed but the loads did. 21,675 units moved on 112 routes, up from 8,900 units on 109 routes the day before. Behind the counters, the Grocers of Buzz Hollow 🏘️ and Smurftopia sold out, along with the Confectioners of SpudVille and 🏗 Build and the Victualler of XM Nexus. In Skillzville, AMKS and ʂɧąŋɛ (Ɩąʂ ۷ɛɠąʂ) 🇺🇸 each opened an Apothecary.

Smaller stories were unfolding too. Double 0 Training Ground built its Library to Level 1 and then Level 2, founded its first cottage district and earned a Silver Commerce medal. XM Nexus raised its Mine to Level 6. Assistant to Tyler added Master Craftsman, Urban Quarter and Builder to the medals they have been collecting.

On the board, Crimson's City led for a second straight day, closing at 7,765. 🏗 Build rose to 7,324 and finished less than 450 points behind, while Wierdoton climbed into the top five at 5,355.

The run is over. After three straight days of Smurftopia at the top of the board, Crimson's City closed the day at 10,535, up from 7,006. That puts it back in first place for the first time in nearly a week. Behind it the rest of the board closed up: 🏗 Build at 7,034, SpudVille at 6,880 and XM Nexus at 6,027 finished within about a thousand points of each other.

The ledger shows a lot of work behind that climb. Crimson's City raised its Bank to Level 6 and led the realm's coal haul with 2,362 units. It also had a Confectioner sell out, one of four that did today, along with those in Buzz Hollow 🏘️, Smurftopia and XM Nexus. XM Nexus spent the day on its basics and took its Sawmill, Farm and Quarry to Level 6. SpudVille brought its Coal Shaft to the same height.

The builders of 🏗 Build had a different kind of day. They broke ground on four new landmarks and finished all four before it ended: The Brewhouse, The Sushi Counter, The Fountain Court and The Calculating Engine. That's a brewery, a sushi bar, a fountain and a thinking machine all opening in one city on the same day, so expect visitors.

The day belonged most of all to Assistant to Tyler. They bought a crucible, a bow, a scythe and an axe at the Trading Post and headed into the wild. They met six species for the first time, more than any other hunter today, from a Muntjac to a Pine Marten to a tiny Wood Pigeon. The medals followed: First Blood, Big Game, Naturalist, Renown, Skilled, Fully Equipped. By evening they had also risen to Citizen. Not bad for a single day.

The roads were busier too: 8,900 units moved over 230 legs, against 5,700 the day before. Scholarship drew serious money again, with Jensen DisasterCthulhu Ԙ: ⚔️🏹 and GrumpyGecko each paying 100,000 gold for a Scholar's Charter. Out in the wilds, Jörg, AMKS and CrimTest1 each carried Naturalist to Mythic.

The realm had a new face today. Sohee luminous2u arrived and got straight to work, earning Getting Started, First Gather, Equipped, Artisan, Full Queue, Trade Route, On a Roll and a Bronze Fortune. Of the ten medals players earned today, most were hers. She also stopped at the Trading Post for a workbench and a shovel, which is a sensible first purchase for anyone planning to stay.

The day's largest purchase came from GrumpyGecko, who paid 50,000 gold for a Master's Charter III. That one payment made up almost half of everything the realm spent at the counters today. The shopkeepers had a good day too: shop sales brought 97,032 gold into players' purses, more than wages did. The Toymakers ran completely out of stock. Their shelves were empty in Buzz Hollow 🏘️, Crimson's City, Smurftopia, SpudVille and XM Nexus, and XM Nexus sold out its Grocer as well. All of those shops now need a Supply Run.

Smurftopia led the day that just closed with 9,990, its third day running at the top of the board. It was a lower score than yesterday's 15,417, though, and the leaders came down together. 🏗 Build fell to 7,213 and Crimson's City to 7,006 from 13,545. Meanwhile XM Nexus rose to 7,186 and SpudVille to 5,832. That leaves second, third and fourth place barely two hundred points apart. SpudVille and XM Nexus both finished a Textile Mill at level 6 and broke ground on new projects straight away. XM Nexus also finished a Clay Pit at level 6.

The hunters in the ashlands kept pushing their personal bests. CrimTest1, PlasmaEddie and Jensen DisasterCthulhu Ԙ: ⚔️🏹 each took an Obsidian Bull at 306 lbs, and Karen landed one at 305. ʂɧąŋɛ (Ɩąʂ ۷ɛɠąʂ) 🇺🇸 and Buzzaroo each brought in an Elder Lava Bear at 306. Hunters had 24 first meetings with 10 species across the realm, and CrimTest1 had eight of them.

Elsewhere, bradskillz earned the Trapper medal at Diamond, CrimTest1 took Hauler to Obsidian, and Double 0 Training Ground earned the Metropolis medal at Bronze. At the bingo tables the blackouts kept coming. Karen won 2,598 gold from a hundred prize crates, the biggest crate haul of the day.

Some days belong to a city. This one mostly belonged to Jensen DisasterCthulhu Ԙ: ⚔️🏹. The realm's hunters logged 38 first meetings across 13 species, and ten of them were Jensen's, more than anyone else's. Somewhere along the way the Naturalist medal reached its Mythic tier. Back in town, Jensen still found time to open an Apothecary in Skillzville.

Out on the ash fields, the Elder Lava Bear became a race. Buzzaroo set a new personal best of 306 lbs, ʂɧąŋɛ (Ɩąʂ ۷ɛɠąʂ) 🇺🇸 reached 305 and Jensen 304, so three hunters now sit within two pounds of each other. Yesterday's best was 299. Jörg raised his Lava Bear mark to 303, AMKS held an Obsidian Bull at 297, and Karen brought her Lava Bear to 276. Buzzaroo also met seven new species, and AMKS, Jörg and ʂɧąŋɛ met six each.

The counting house had its own big news. Karen, PlasmaEddie, Jörg, ʂɧąŋɛ (Ɩąʂ ۷ɛɠąʂ) 🇺🇸 and AMKS each paid 100,000 gold for a Scholar's Charter, half a million in all. PlasmaEddie and Jörg then paid another 50,000 apiece for a Master's Charter III. The realm's shops took in 96,456 gold today, well short of what went into charters.

The building yard stayed busy. Smurftopia brought six buildings to Level 6, including its Chamber of Commerce, Bank and Market, and XM Nexus brought five. Crimson's City, Smurftopia and XM Nexus each raised a Craftworks to Level 3. Buzz Hollow 🏘️ broke ground on the Fountain Court, the Calculating Engine, the Brewhouse and the Sushi Counter and finished all four the same day. Four landmark visits there added 120 prestige. Skillzville opened six commercial zones and founded two new neighborhoods, Cobblestone Mews and Roseheart Yard. AMKS also earned Foreman.

On the board, Smurftopia led the closed day for the second day running, finishing at 15,417, down from 19,763. Crimson's City came second with 13,545. 🏗 Build climbed from 6,076 to 10,992, and Double 0 Training Ground rose from 2,774 to 5,523. Both nearly doubled their score, but the crown stayed in Smurftopia.

The building yard has never had a day like this one. In Buzz Hollow 🏘️, Crimson's City, Smurftopia, SpudVille, XM Nexus and 🏗 Build, the Town Hall reached Level 6 — and it did not climb alone. Libraries, Banks, Markets, Quarries, Mines, Sawmills, Trading Posts and Chambers of Commerce went up the same stair, in many cases breaking ground and opening their doors before the day was out. Buzz Hollow and 🏗 Build pushed their Craftworks to 3 on top of it, and five fresh commercial zones were paced out in each of Buzz Hollow, 🏗 Build and SpudVille.

The standings read like the aftermath. Smurftopia closed at 19,763, up from 5,330 the day before — the largest close on any of the nine days the board holds, and the first time Smurftopia's name has sat on the top line in that run. Crimson's City came second at 12,595 from 4,515. The crown has now changed hands four days running, passing from Crimson's City to 🏗 Build to XM Nexus and on to Smurftopia; XM Nexus was the one board to fall, 6,285 down to 5,753, though it still drew the realm's largest prestige surge — 318 from 17 landmark visits.

Out past the fields, the trophy boards moved into country nobody had walked before. ʂɧąŋɛ (Ɩąʂ ۷ɛɠąʂ) 🇺🇸 brought in an Elder Lava Bear at 299 pounds; AMKS matched it near enough with an Obsidian Bull at 297. Between them and Buzzaroo, three hunters logged nine first meetings across six species — Cinder Lynx, Basalt Ram, Ashen Elk and Ash Bison among the names written down for the first time. Karen, CrimTest1, PlasmaEddie and Jensen DisasterCthulhu Ԙ: ⚔️🏹 all moved boards of their own, every one of them at 242.

Gold went out in large, deliberate pieces. Buzzaroo, Karen and PlasmaEddie each laid down 100,000 for a Scholar's Charter; Buzzaroo, ʂɧąŋɛ (Ɩąʂ ۷ɛɠąʂ) 🇺🇸 and AMKS each put 50,000 into a Master's Charter III. The single biggest movement of the day was Jensen DisasterCthulhu Ԙ: ⚔️🏹, with 250,000 across the vendor's counter. Fifteen medals went to players, chief among them Every Edge Sharp turning up on roster after roster, with GrumpyGecko carrying Hauler to Diamond and Line Caller to Platinum along the way.

And in the middle of all that masonry, a quieter thing: Paradise opened its first Farm and its first Quarry — Level 1, both of them, freshly dug on ground that was empty a few days ago. LordTrolldemort spent 90,000 on his Estate the same day. Every city on the board started where Paradise is standing now.

Somebody has been busy with sugar. PlasmaEddie opened a Confectioner in Crimson's City, and then another in Buzz Hollow 🏘️, and then in 🏗 Build, in XM Nexus, in SpudVille, in Smurftopia, in Skillzville — the same shop sign going up over one high street after another, and the list may not even end there. Every shop in the realm today was his, and every one of them sold sweets.

Between hanging signs he found time for the rest of it: a Second Shift and a Gamekeeper's Party off the Trading Post shelves, four units of dyes brokered into XM Nexus, and an Ice Bear on the trophy board at 242 pounds. It was not a quiet day to be PlasmaEddie.

The crown, meanwhile, moved for the third day running. XM Nexus closed at 6,285 and took the top line for the first time in the nine days the board records — after Crimson's City held it for seven straight and 🏗 Build took it yesterday. It is also the smallest winning score on any of those nine days: Crimson's City came off 7,621 to 4,515, Buzz Hollow eased back, SpudVille held almost exactly level, and only Smurftopia climbed alongside the new leader, up to 5,330 and second. XM Nexus earned its turn at the top the honest way, drawing 568 prestige from 28 visits to its landmarks — the realm's biggest surge, and its second big one in as many days.

Gold, though, mostly went out. More than 133,000 left players' purses across the vendor's counter, far and away the day's largest single flow — AMKS back at the counter again and again, Buzzaroo twice over eight thousand, ʂɧąŋɛ (Ɩąʂ ۷ɛɠąʂ) 🇺🇸 and PlasmaEddie beside them. Invitations to Mr. Crane's Reserve went out to Karen, CrimTest1, Buzzaroo, Jensen DisasterCthulhu Ԙ: ⚔️🏹 and PlasmaEddie — five purses lighter, five appointments kept.

At the tables the cards kept running all the way to blackout, and the realm's only medal of the day came out of them: David (davesnothere) AZ-USA took Line Caller to Gold. Jörg and Buzzaroo each cracked open 117 prize crates, coming away with a little over three thousand gold apiece. And out in the working world it was a pelts day almost everywhere — the tanning racks of XM Nexus, 🏗 Build, SpudVille and Davetopia all buried under the same haul. XM Nexus ends the day on top of the standings with 51,273 families still queued for a cottage; being the realm's favorite address is not the same as having room for everyone.

For eight closed days running, the first name on the standings was Crimson's City. Today it is 🏗 Build, at 8,227 — the first time in the nine days the board remembers that the top line reads anything else.

It is a strange sort of coronation. Build won the day with 8,227 after closing the day before at 10,420, and Crimson's City fell further still, from 10,874 to 7,621. The crown moved not because anyone surged, but because the whole top of the table drew breath at once. Wierdoton eased back from 5,717 to 4,772.

The one clear current running the other way belonged to XM Nexus, up to 5,436 from 5,046, with Buzz Hollow 🏘️ nudging up behind it. Nexus was the realm's destination today: 487 prestige gathered from 26 visits to its landmarks, more than any other city. Four different importers put in at its warehouses — PlasmaEddie and ʂɧąŋɛ (Ɩąʂ ۷ɛɠąʂ) 🇺🇸 with dyes, Karen and Jensen DisasterCthulhu Ԙ: ⚔️🏹 with silk — while its own hunters and lodge parties brought in 4,064 pelts, the biggest pelt haul anywhere. Fifty thousand cottage families still wait at its gates for somewhere to live.

At the Trading Post the counters were busy in a particular way: four Invitations to Mr. Crane's Reserve went out the door, to CrimTest1, Karen, Jensen DisasterCthulhu Ԙ: ⚔️🏹 and ʂɧąŋɛ (Ɩąʂ ۷ɛɠąʂ) 🇺🇸. Jörg and Jensen each laid out better than six thousand gold twice over at the vendor, part of 38,948 that left the realm's purses there; David (davesnothere) AZ-USA bought Hired Help and a Rush Token and went to work, one of 72 crafting turns the realm took today. Somewhere in all that, a single player quietly carried a tool up to a new level of mastery.

The evening belonged to fortune. Bingo cards came back blackout after blackout — Karen twice, GrumpyGecko twice, Jensen twice, PlasmaEddie, ʂɧąŋɛ and AMKS besides — with two cheers passed between players for the wins. Jensen shook 1,484 gold out of 62 prize crates and took 211 more off a scratch ticket. At home, ʂɧąŋɛ set a trophy dragon in the Estate and Karen a trophy basilisk, while shop counters across the realm paid 96,317 gold into players' purses against 74,327 in wages.

The realm's building yards were quiet today save for one, and Skillzville made the most of it. Ground was broken on a Falconry Mews and the doors stood open before the day was out — the only project finished anywhere in the realm, and a landmark of its own to put on the visiting map.

The honors ran the same way. Every medal earned in the realm today went to bradskillz: Cornerstone at Platinum, and Line Caller and High Roller both at Gold. He also had the day's only first meeting out in the wilderness — a Muskox Calf at 159 pounds, a slot filled in a passport that can only ever be filled once.

Elsewhere in the camps, trophy boards moved and every single one of them stopped on the same figure: 242 pounds. Karen and ☃ each hung an Elder Ice Bear, PlasmaEddie an Ice Bear, and Jensen DisasterCthulhu Ԙ: ⚔️🏹 and Jörg both a Great Aurochs — five different camps, five different beasts, one number.

Purses ran the other way. The vendor took 107,904 gold out of the realm's pockets — more than the shop counters paid in, more than wages — with Buzzaroo and ʂɧąŋɛ (Ɩąʂ ۷ɛɠąʂ) 🇺🇸 making the heaviest trips, and Invitations to Mr. Crane's Reserve going off the shelf again. Bigger still was David (davesnothere) AZ-USA, who put 90,000 gold into his Estate in one movement. And for the gamblers, 10,000 in bingo cards came back as 57,000 — a good night at the hall, and five cheers went out over it.

At the close, both leaders had fallen a long way and only one of them noticed. Crimson's City settled at 10,874, down from 14,507, but 🏗 Build came down too and finished just 454 behind — closer than yesterday's 680. Against the tide, Wierdoton and Smurftopia both climbed. XM Nexus drew 493 prestige through 25 visits, the busiest gates in the realm, while the trade roads ran yesterday's tonnage exactly, unit for unit. Nine days sit on the board; all nine of them carry Crimson's City's name.

There is a new name on the map. LordTrolldemort founded Paradise today, the realm's twelfth city — and rather than spend the day surveying, broke ground on a Coal Shaft and had it finished before dusk. Two medals came with it, Foreman and Builder, and four cheers arrived from elsewhere in the realm to mark the founding. Every building raised anywhere today was that one shaft.

Higher up the board, two cities put their shoulders into it at once. Crimson's City closed the day at 14,507 — it has now led every one of the last nine closed days — but the gap behind it very nearly shut: 🏗 Build came up from 5,249 to 13,827, finishing just 680 short. Build's pitheads did most of the talking, with 9,596 coal, the largest single haul in the realm; Crimson's fields answered with 8,808 grain.

Out past the last road, Abolfazl provisioned a party and went — taking Packed and Ready and First Expedition in the same trip. Eight players are living in the wilderness at the moment, and a first expedition is how most of them eventually find their way to a gate. They were two of the realm's five medals today; PlasmaEddie claimed another, carrying Hauler up to Obsidian.

In Skillzville, GrumpyGecko opened a Confectioner and put sweets on the shelf. Elsewhere the Trading Post did brisk business — some 83,461 gold crossed the vendor's counter, with David (davesnothere) AZ-USA walking out under an armful of hired help and a rush token, which is what a long night at the workbench looks like when you plan ahead.

The roads ran a touch quieter than yesterday — 198 wagon legs against 208 — and XM Nexus remained the realm's destination, drawing 485 prestige from twenty-one visitors come to see what it has built.

Count the day's money and the shape of the Age of Commerce is plain to see. Across the realm's zoned streets, 4,361 sales put 96,412 gold into players' purses — more than the 77,898 paid out in wages over the same day. Twelve of the realm's twenty-four players now trade as Tycoons, and today the shopkeeping half of that trade earned more than employment did.

The shelves held up well under it. Only one shop anywhere ran its stock down to nothing — the Victualler in SpudVille, bare counters and a queue of disappointed families — and just seven Supply Runs went out all day to top anything up.

One medal went to a player and one to a city. Jensen DisasterCthulhu Ԙ: ⚔️🏹 took Trapper to Mythic, a reward for pelts hauled home in quantity over a long stretch of hunting. Double 0 Training Ground took Commerce at Bronze, stepping onto a ladder its builders have been laying the ground for. Somewhere in the realm, a tool went up a level too.

The vendor had a busy counter of his own: 50,929 gold crossed it over eighteen purchases, five of them Invitations to Mr. Crane's Reserve — bought by Buzzaroo, Jensen DisasterCthulhu Ԙ: ⚔️🏹, ʂɧąŋɛ (Ɩąʂ ۷ɛɠąʂ) 🇺🇸, Karen and CrimTest1. ʂɧąŋɛ made the day's single largest movement at 7,888, while David (davesnothere) AZ-USA bought rested potions five at a time. Fortune was kind besides: bingo paid 21,000 back against 6,000 spent on cards. And out in the country bradskillz met a Desert Bighorn at 196 pounds — the only first meeting anywhere in the realm today, and a new page in his Passport.

Crimson's City closed the day at 8,776, up from 7,374 and an eighth straight day at the head of the board. What's notable is the company: all five leading cities finished higher than the day before — Smurftopia to 5,655, 🏗 Build to 5,249, Wierdoton to 5,100 — though XM Nexus barely stirred, gaining under fifty. The wagons ran heavier too, carrying 8,200 units over the same 108 routes against yesterday's 6,200, and Crimson's fields brought in 4,899 grain. All of it needed: XM Nexus currently has 47,275 families still waiting on a cottage.
