The Counters Overtake the Payroll

Three days of closing the gap, and today the realm's shop counters finally out-earned its wage packets — 65,963 to 63,247.

Three days ago the shop counters came within 814 gold of the realm's payroll. Today they went past it. Across the cities, ordinary customers handed over 65,963 gold in more than three thousand small purchases, while the wage packets of every working citizen came to 63,247 — the first day the shelves have out-earned the shift. The Age of Commerce stopped being a promise about it sometime this past day and became simply how the realm makes its money.

It helps that GrumpyGecko spent the day opening doors. Grocers and Victuallers went up in Crimson's City, in SpudVille, in Buzz Hollow 🏘️, in XM Nexus and in 🏗 Build — the plainest trade on the roster, bread and provisions, opened city after city under one name. 🏗 Build took the Commerce medal at Platinum for the traffic through its zones.

Davetopia had the loudest building yard the realm has seen in some time: a Library, a Coal Shaft and a Textile Mill all finished at Level 5, the Chamber of Commerce raised to its second level, and the frames of a Silk Exchange and a Powder Hall going up beside them — most of it broken ground on and finished inside the same day. In Skillzville, the Town Hall reached Level 4 at last, and the Industrial Era arrived with the Industrialist medal to mark it. SpudVille raised a Bank to Level 5 from nothing, took Boomtown at Diamond, and laid out new lanes — Rosebower Terrace, Cloverfield Close, Brookford Close — while over in Crimson's City the Hanging Gardens, broken ground on only yesterday, opened to visitors. Spare a thought for XM Nexus, where 11,745 families are still waiting on a cottage.

One purse emptied harder than any counter filled. CrimTest1 laid out 175,000 gold on a single estate upgrade — more than three times what the whole realm spent at the vendor's counter all day, and by a wide margin the largest movement of money anywhere. Karen, more modestly, brought home a jackalope trophy for the wall.

In the wilderness, nine hunters met something they had never met before: 25 first meetings across 17 species, of which GrumpyGecko alone accounted for nine — a Desert Coyote, a Ringtail, Dall Sheep, Snow Bison, a Ghost Bear. Karen's Old Longhorn came in at 240 pounds. The Naturalist medal moved four times in a day: Obsidian for Jensen DisasterCthulhu Ԙ: ⚔️🏹, Buzzaroo and Jörg, Platinum for GrumpyGecko, while bradskillz took Ranger at Silver. The day's heaviest trophies all stopped at the same figure — 242 pounds, for Jörg and AMKS on Great Aurochs and for ☃, Tyler and Buzzaroo on Elder Ice Bears, with PlasmaEddie a single pound short of joining them. 🏗 Build takes the day at 1,159; SpudVille draws 314 prestige from seventeen visits.

Eighteen Tools Sharper

The realm spent more at the vendor's counter today than it earned in wages and shop takings put together.

Today the realm did its spending. Forty-seven trips to the vendor's counter carried 173,993 gold out of personal purses — more than the realm's wages and all of its shop takings put together. Buzzaroo, PlasmaEddie and Jörg each went back more than once, laying out close to nine thousand gold a visit.

Above all of it sat one line: ☃ paid 50,000 gold for a Master's Charter, the largest single movement of the day and the second Charter to change hands in two days. A Charter buys no levels — only the room to earn them. The earning showed up elsewhere: eighteen tool masteries climbed a rung today, spread across ten different players, every one of them won at the bench or in the field.

In the building yard, Crimson's City finished its Bank at Level 5 and broke ground the same day on the Hanging Gardens. Davetopia raised both a Farm and a Market to Level 5 and started digging for a Library — three projects on its books in a day.

CrimTest1 took two Diamonds: Naturalist for the Wildlife Passport, and Fortune. Out in the grounds, thirty-two first meetings were logged across twenty-six species by eight hunters — AMKS met seven of them, CrimTest1 six — and the heavy trophies moved again, with Jörg and AMKS each landing a 242 lb Great Aurochs and Tyler, Buzzaroo and ☃ each an Elder Ice Bear of the same weight.

Elsewhere the shelves kept turning. ʂɧąŋɛ (Ɩąʂ ۷ɛɠąʂ) 🇺🇸 opened Booksellers in six cities in a single day and carried off Obsidian Hauler for the trouble, while SpudVille's Horologist sold clean out and waits on a Supply Run. 🏗 Build takes the day at 957 for the fourth running, SpudVille draws 442 prestige from twenty-eight visits — and at the gates of XM Nexus, 11,196 families are still waiting on a cottage.

The Toymaker and the Confectioner

Two merchants opened the same shopfront in city after city — and GrumpyGecko laid out 50,000 gold for a Master's Charter.

Shops usually arrive the way weather does — one here, one there, wherever a mayor happened to zone. Today they arrived in formation. Jörg raised a Toymaker in Buzz Hollow 🏘️, then in SpudVille, then Smurftopia /cities, 🏗 Build, XM Nexus and Crimson's City — the same trade, the same sign over the door, in city after city. Close behind him came Jensen DisasterCthulhu Ԙ: ⚔️🏹, doing precisely the same thing with Confectioners in the same six towns. GrumpyGecko added a Grocer to Smurftopia's row for good measure.

Whether the two merchants planned it or simply read the same map, the effect was a realm that woke up with toys and sweets on sale nearly everywhere at once. Smurftopia's Confectioner counter ran bare before the day was out — the small, happy disaster of a shop that sold everything it had and now waits on a Supply Run.

The day's single largest movement of gold was a purchase, not a payout: GrumpyGecko laid out 50,000 for a Master's Charter, buying not levels but the room to earn them. The realm spent another 71,399 across the vendor's counters, and the work showed — nineteen tool levels were mastered today across ten different hands.

In the building yard, SpudVille had the kind of day that gets remembered: a Farm, a Textile Mill and a Library all finished at Level 5, each broken ground and topped out in the same span. Davetopia's Bank reached Level 5 too, which is the rung where a bank starts writing Promissory Notes. SpudVille also drew the realm's admiring feet — 397 prestige from twenty-three visits.

Out past the last fence, thirty-two first meetings were logged across twenty-six species by eight hunters — CrimTest1 met eight of them, Buzzaroo seven. PlasmaEddie took Diamond Naturalist for the collection, Karen Obsidian Big Game; her first Marsh Aurochs came in at 240 lbs. Trophies at 242 lbs came home to Jörg, ☃, Tyler, Buzzaroo and AMKS, from Great Aurochs and Elder Ice Bear alike.

🏗 Build takes the day at 1,198, its third running. And the number worth watching: shop counters took 62,262 gold, against 63,076 paid out in wages. Two days ago that gap was wider. Commerce is closing on the payroll.

Twenty-One Species Meet Their First Hunter

Ten hunters met 21 species for the first time, three crossed into Obsidian, and the realm's shop counters nearly out-earned its payroll.

The wilderness did most of the day's talking. Thirty-six first meetings were logged across 21 species by ten hunters — the kind of day where a Passport page fills faster than a hunter can read it. Jörg and PlasmaEddie came home with seven new species apiece, ☃ with six, and CrimTest1 and Karen with four each.

The names alone are worth the walk. ☃ met a Marsh Aurochs, a Bog Elk and a Great Aurochs in a single stretch of country; CrimTest1 crossed paths with a Pale Stallion and a Feral Longhorn; Jörg found a Ghost Bear, and Karen her first Ice Bear. At the top of the scales, four trophies weighed in at 242 pounds — Elder Ice Bears for ☃, Tyler and Buzzaroo, a Great Aurochs for AMKS — the figure that has sat unbeaten atop the record books for days now.

Seven medals were struck across the realm. ☃ took Diamond Naturalist and, with three species-hunting days behind it, crossed into Obsidian Big Game alongside PlasmaEddie and Jörg. CrimTest1 and Jörg were each named Legend, and GrumpyGecko reached Platinum Cornerstone.

Behind the counters, the shops came very close to matching the payroll: 57,921 gold crossed shop tills over the day against 62,269 paid out in wages. AMKS spent the day raising shopfronts — a Grocer and a Chandler here, an Apothecary in Smurftopia — while ʂɧąŋɛ (Ɩąʂ ۷ɛɠąʂ) 🇺🇸 opened a Grocer in Crimson's City. A Horologist in Buzz Hollow 🏘️ and two shelves in 🏗 Build ran clean out of stock, which is the happier kind of problem.

Skillzville broke ground on its Town Hall and did not have to wait alone: caravans came in with marble and glass from bradskillz, silk from Karen and ʂɧąŋɛ, and more glass from Buzzaroo. Elsewhere Crimson's City finished its Market at Level 5, SpudVille capped both a Clay Pit and a Coal Shaft, and Smurftopia /cities opened two merchant neighborhoods — Tidemark Terrace and Birchwood Merchant's Row, sixteen families apiece.

🏗 Build holds the day's score at 1,069, with SpudVille behind it at 715 and Davetopia at 562; SpudVille again drew the crowds, taking 310 prestige from seventeen visits. Eight players earned eighteen tool levels between them, the roads moved exactly what they moved yesterday, and somewhere in the middle of it all one player stopped to cheer another's bingo win.

The Shelves Go Bare in Four Cities

Five shops sold clean out — three of them Confectioners — while Jörg met four new species in a single day.

Somebody has to restock. A day after sixteen shopfronts opened at once, five shelves stood empty: Confectioners in Buzz Hollow 🏘️, Crimson's City and SpudVille, and Horologists in Smurftopia /cities and SpudVille again. Fifteen Supply Runs went out across the realm today, and still the sweet shops came up bare. The Age of Commerce has learned something about resident families: they have a sweet tooth.

Not that the doors stopped opening. Crimson's City zoned two more commercial plots and had three merchants trading on them before the day was out — a Grocer each from Jensen DisasterCthulhu Ԙ: ⚔️🏹 and Karen, and a Horologist from PlasmaEddie — while bradskillz raised a Silversmith in Buzz Hollow. Counted across every zone in the realm, shop counters put better than 56,000 gold into merchants' purses.

Davetopia spent the whole day in its building yard: ground broken on four projects, a Clay Pit and a Mine both finished at Level 5, and a Chamber of Commerce raised — the city's first, and the thing that sets how many kinds of shop it may host. The Library it started was set aside for another day. Buzz Hollow 🏘️ and Smurftopia /cities both finished theirs at Level 5, and Smurftopia went on to found two neighborhoods in one day: Waypost Crescent, sixteen merchant families, and Cloverfield Terrace, eight in the grand tier.

Out past the fences, twelve species were met for the first time — the kind of entry that goes into a Wildlife Passport once and never again. Jörg took four of them in a day, a Caribou, a Golden Pheasant, a Peafowl and an Estate Hare, and came home with Diamond Naturalist. GrumpyGecko took Gold on the strength of a Kodiak Bear and a Barbary Sheep, and ☃ met a Mountain Lion. CrimTest1 put a 240 lb Old Longhorn on the scales for Obsidian Big Game, and AMKS carried in a 242 lb Great Aurochs — level with the heaviest weight the realm has ever recorded.

Karen earned Legend today and ☃ took Diamond Fortune, which suited a day when ten of twelve bingo cards came in as blackouts and bradskillz pulled two fat scratch tickets back to back. PlasmaEddie laid out 2,000 gold for an invitation to Mr. Crane's Reserve. And on the board, 🏗 Build takes the day back at 1,284 after SpudVille's turn on top, while SpudVille reclaims the prestige crown with 367 drawn from 24 landmark visits.

Sixteen New Shopfronts, and Buzzaroo's Big Day

Sixteen shops opened their doors in a single day — six of them Karen's — while Buzzaroo laid out 50,000 gold for a Master's Charter.

The Age of Commerce stopped being a plan today and became a street. Sixteen shops opened their doors across six cities, raised by five merchants, and the busiest address in the realm was Smurftopia /cities — seven new counters in a day, on top of a Market and a Bank both finished at Level 5. Jensen DisasterCthulhu Ԙ: ⚔️🏹 put up a Grocer, an Apothecary and two Chandlers; Buzzaroo opened a pair of Toymakers; bradskillz hung a Silversmith's sign in Crimson's City. But the day belonged to Karen, who raised six Apothecaries in six different cities — Crimson's City, SpudVille, 🏗 Build, Smurftopia, XM Nexus and Buzz Hollow — and a Victualler besides. Across the realm, shop counters moved 54,742 gold, within shouting distance of everything the realm paid out in wages.

The ground came with it. Crimson's City drove its Chamber of Commerce from Level 4 to Level 5 in a single day, abandoning one false start along the way, and both it and Smurftopia zoned two more commercial plots. Buzz Hollow 🏘️ spent the day on industry instead — Textile Mill, Mine, Quarry and Coal Shaft all finished at Level 5, with a Library now broken ground on.

Buzzaroo had the kind of day that gets written down. Fifty thousand gold went across the counter for a Master's Charter — the single largest movement of money in the realm this past day, and by a wide margin. Then a 242 lb Elder Ice Bear, three species met for the very first time, the Diamond tier of the Naturalist medal, and two bingo blackouts before the evening was out. Some days simply cooperate.

The wilderness was generous to everyone. Twelve species were met for the first time by five hunters — Karen filling four Passport slots alone, Jörg meeting a Pale Stallion and a Pronghorn, AMKS a Moose and a Muskox Calf. Tyler matched Buzzaroo pound for pound with his own 242 lb Elder Ice Bear, a pound heavier than the mark three hunters shared two days ago. GrumpyGecko took a 240 lb Old Longhorn and the Obsidian rung of Big Game with it; ☃ took Big Game Diamond and Contributor Diamond in the same day. Both Davetopia and SpudVille capped their Hunter's Lodges at Level 5, throwing four new grounds open apiece.

And SpudVille ended the run: 717 points takes today's score, after three straight days of 🏗 Build at the top. Every luxury caravan in the realm rolled the same way, too — eight Tycoons brokered ten deliveries and every last one went into SpudVille, spices and jade and gunpowder and fine wine. XM Nexus drew the crowds instead, 290 prestige from thirteen visits to its landmarks. Elsewhere: seven blackouts from eight bingo cards, a Line Caller Gold for GrumpyGecko, twenty-five tool levels earned by eleven players, and Karen's five scratch tickets returning nearly 2,400 gold. In 🏗 Build the Tailor and the Confectioner both stand with bare shelves tonight — which is the polite way of saying business was very good indeed.

Fourteen Fives and a New Glassworks

Fourteen buildings topped out at Level 5, Davetopia's Town Hall joined the Age of Commerce, and Skillzville cut three ribbons in a day.

Today the realm counted in fives. Fourteen separate works crossed into Level 5 across seven cities, and XM Nexus set the pace with four of them in a single day — Coal Shaft, Textile Mill, Farm, and a Library at Level 5, the rung where the Librarian stops merely filling your queue and starts telling you what to do with it. Buzz Hollow 🏘️ took three (Farm, Sawmill, and its Chamber of Commerce), while Crimson's City topped out a Library and a Coal Shaft and 🏗 Build finished a Library of its own. Three cities can now ask their librarians for advice; a week ago none could.

Davetopia had the day's landmark moment: its Town Hall reached Level 5, and the Age of Commerce has another member. It brought a Trading Post to Level 5 in the same stretch — the shelf that stocks Mr. Crane's Invitation and the Grandmaster's Charter — and then, quietly, lit a Glassworks for the first time. Glass is one of the two scarcest luxuries in the realm, wanted by far more doors than it has furnaces. Another one is burning tonight.

Skillzville was the loudest yard again. Three ribbons in one day: a Marble Bathhouse and an Imperial Gallery — both from the grandest class of landmark, three luxuries a visit and the biggest prestige a host can earn — plus a Customs House, which is the far less glamorous building that actually pays for the other two. Smurftopia /cities did something similar with less ceremony, carrying its Chamber of Commerce through Level 4 and Level 5 in the same day to reach the full ten-shop roster, and staking out a Market next. SpudVille pushed its Trading Post to Level 5.

The roads never slowed: 8 new deals signed, and 170 shipments hauling 5,589 units over 78 routes. Eleven players earned 24 tool levels between them. Visitors kept SpudVille's doors swinging hardest — 31 landmark visits for 425 prestige, more than the rest of the realm together, with XM Nexus (210), Buzz Hollow 🏘️ (140), 🏗 Build (118) and Crimson's City (100) behind it. And GrumpyGecko crossed the last line on the ladder and rose to Tycoon — the realm's twelfth, out of nineteen of us.

Out past the walls the trophy board held exactly where it stood: AMKS's Great Aurochs, Jensen DisasterCthulhu Ԙ: ⚔️🏹's Elder Ice Bear and Buzzaroo's Marsh Aurochs still tied at 241 lbs, with Tyler's Feral Longhorn and ʂɧąŋɛ (Ɩąʂ ۷ɛɠąʂ) 🇺🇸's Ice Bear a pound back — all five within a whisker of the heaviest creature this world is known to hold, and nobody moved them today. Luck ran warmer indoors: bradskillz scratched four winners for 390, 304, 267 and 240 gold, and CrimTest1 took the single biggest ticket at 456. On the day's board 🏗 Build ran away with it at 1,562 — more than double second place — ahead of Crimson's City (729), XM Nexus (509), SpudVille (488) and Smurftopia /cities (448). No new banners, no new arrivals: ten cities, five of us still happily out in the wild. A day for finishing things.

Chambers Rise, and Skillzville Opens Its Doors

Six Chamber of Commerce levels went up across five cities, Skillzville opened five buildings in a day, and four hunters came home within two pounds of each other.

If you listened to the realm today, you mostly heard hammers on the same building. SpudVille, XM Nexus and 🏗 Build each topped out a Chamber of Commerce at Level 5 — the full ten-shop roster, every kind of storefront a city can zone. Buzz Hollow 🏘️ reached Level 4 on the way, and Smurftopia /cities got its Chamber to Level 3 with two more starts already staked out. Six Chamber levels in a single day across five cities. The Age of Commerce is no longer a headline; it is a construction schedule.

Around the rest of the ledger, cities finished the quiet, load-bearing upgrades. Banks reached Level 5 in Buzz Hollow 🏘️ and 🏗 Build. Crimson's City pushed its Trading Post to Level 5 and its Clay Pit alongside it. Smurftopia /cities brought a Hunter's Lodge to Level 5 — the cap, which throws open four hunting grounds at once — and a Coal Shaft with it. Not a monument between them, and every one of them changes what its city can do tomorrow.

Skillzville had the loudest day of anyone. Five buildings finished under one sun: the Silk Exchange, the Powder Hall, the Spice Market Bazaar, and — its two permanent specialties, the ones a city only ever gets to choose once — the Gem Cutter's Workshop and the Dye House. Ground broke on an Imperial Gallery besides. The visitors found it immediately: five landmark visits and 31 prestige in a district that did not exist yesterday morning.

Out past the walls, the hunters had a day worth talking about. AMKS brought back a Great Aurochs at 241 lbs; Jensen DisasterCthulhu Ԙ: ⚔️🏹 matched it exactly with an Elder Ice Bear, and Buzzaroo matched them both with a Marsh Aurochs. A pound behind, Tyler took a Feral Longhorn and ʂɧąŋɛ (Ɩąʂ ۷ɛɠąʂ) 🇺🇸 an Ice Bear, both at 240 lbs. Four trophies inside two pounds of each other, all of them within a whisker of the heaviest creature anyone has ever recorded in this world. Fortune smiled indoors too: Karen cashed three winning scratch tickets — 1,268, 605 and 223 gold — and bradskillz took 484 and 316 from two more.

The roads stayed busy: 170 shipments moved 5,589 units over 78 routes, with two fresh deals signed on top. Eight players earned 27 tool levels between them. On today's board 🏗 Build leads at 793, with Crimson's City at 632, Smurftopia /cities at 542, XM Nexus at 474 and SpudVille at 420 — though SpudVille took the prestige crown handily, drawing 23 landmark visits for 353 prestige. No new banners were raised and nobody crossed a tier line today: nineteen of us, ten cities, eleven Tycoons, and five still happily out in the wilderness. A building day, not a beginning day. Those count too.

The Chambers Rise

A day after the Age of Commerce opened, six cities pushed to Level 5 and the first Chambers of Commerce went up.

The realm woke up industrial and went to bed commercial. Across ten cities, eighteen mayors, hunters and merchants spent the day hauling their works up to Level 5 — and then, in six of them, breaking ground on something the realm has never had before: a Chamber of Commerce.

🏗 Build did it wholesale. Sawmill, Quarry, Mine, Clay Pit, Coal Shaft, Farm, Textile Mill, Hunter's Lodge, Trading Post, Town Hall — ten works, every one of them finished at Level 5 in a single day, with a Chamber raised to its second level on top. It closed the day atop the score table at 817, ahead of Crimson's City (674, with its own Town Hall, Lodge, Sawmill and Quarry all topped out), Smurftopia /cities (506), XM Nexus (464) and SpudVille (430).

The Chambers themselves are the day's real news, since a Chamber's level is simply how many kinds of shop a city may host. XM Nexus drove hardest, carrying its Chamber through four levels before the day was out — eight shop types' worth of room — while Buzz Hollow 🏘️ reached three and Crimson's City, SpudVille and 🏗 Build each settled at two. Smurftopia laid its first stone. Meanwhile Skillzville kept to its own ladder, taking its Textile Mill, Quarry and Sawmill to Level 3 — every city climbs the same stairs, just not on the same step.

Not one new trade bargain was signed all day, and it hardly mattered: the standing routes never stopped. Seventy-six of them carried 168 shipments and 5,579 units between cities while everyone else was busy pouring foundations. Eight players nudged their tools up fifteen levels between them, and visitors kept the premium doors swinging — SpudVille collected 411 prestige from 27 landmark visits, more than the rest of the realm together, with XM Nexus (220) next and Davetopia, 🏗 Build and Buzz Hollow taking their share.

Out past the walls, the hunting was excellent. Karen brought home a 220 lb moose — the heaviest class of game the realm holds — with Jensen DisasterCthulhu Ԙ: ⚔️🏹 close behind on a 179 lb Barbary sheep, and AMKS, Tyler and Buzzaroo all logging 144 lb trophies. Luck ran warm too: bradskillz scratched three winners for 598, 438 and 414 gold, Jörg took 499 and Karen 428. Fourteen players in cities, four still out in the wilderness, ten Tycoons among them — and, as of today, shopfronts to fill.

Eleven Points Apart, and Skillzville Builds All Day

Build edges Crimson's City by eleven points, Skillzville raises six buildings in one day, and five hunters tie at 144 pounds.

Skillzville spent the day with its sleeves rolled up. Ten projects broke ground and six of them were finished before the light went — the Market and the Mine to their third level, a Farm to its third and another to its second, a Sawmill to its second, and, best of all, the Hunter's Lodge up to Level 3. That last one matters: a Lodge at three is a Lodge that can mount full provisioned expeditions. The scaffolding never came down; it just kept moving to the next foundation.

Over in Davetopia the work was less about sawdust and more about splendor. Three landmarks were begun and opened in a single day — a Hall of Champions, a Spice Market Bazaar, and a Glassblower's Studio — and eleven visitors were already through the doors by dusk, worth 171 prestige. Yet the realm's most-trodden streets were SpudVille's, which drew 28 visits and 435 prestige, with XM Nexus next at 273 across 17 callers.

The day's production board came down to a hair. 🏗 Build finished on top with 892 — but Crimson's City closed at 881, eleven points behind, near enough that an hour either way would have swapped them. Smurftopia /cities held third on 581, with SpudVille (470) and Buzz Hollow 🏘️ (465) trading blows for the last step of the podium.

Out past the walls, the scales told an uncanny story for the third time this week: five hunters, five trophies, every one of them exactly 144 pounds. Buzzaroo, ʂɧąŋɛ (Ɩąʂ ۷ɛɠąʂ) 🇺🇸, CrimTest1, and AMKS each brought home a Red Deer of that weight, while Tyler matched them with a Musk Ox — one of the rare ones, and never a thing the standing hunting parties bring back. Fortune paid indoors too: Karen opened a scratch ticket worth 623 gold.

Underneath the headlines ran the ordinary business of a working realm. No fresh bargains were signed at any negotiating table today, but the old ones hauled all the same — 168 shipments over 76 routes, some 5,579 units of goods on the roads. Seven pairs of hands notched 14 tool masteries between them. Eighteen players, ten cities, four souls still out in the wilderness by choice, and ten Tycoons keeping the luxury caravans honest.
